Overview

Of the many benefits the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act provided to taxpayers, none was more valuable, or more statutorily complex, than Section 199A. This broadcast discusses the Section 199A rules and Section 199A current developments that tax practitioners need to complete 2018 tax returns that are currently on extension due in part or in whole to issues relating to Section 199A.

Our panel of tax experts who have spent an enormous amount of time updating themselves with respect to Section 199A and its complexities will discuss how practitioners can address the complex Section 199A issues that forced tax practitioners to extend many 2018 tax returns. After taking this course, you'll come away with a much greater understanding of Section 199A  so that you will be able to prepare 2018 returns extended to September 15 or October 15, 2019 that have challenging Section 199A issues.

Major Topics:

  • Issues our panelists faced during the 2018 tax season in applying and calculating Section 199A
  • Advice and planning suggestions to give clients for 2019 based on 2018 tax season experiences

  • When and how to aggregate trades or businesses
